In a thrilling Twenty20 match against Australia on Thursday in Visakhapatnam. India captain Suryakumar Yadav scored an inning of 80 off 42 balls. Opener Rinku Singh played a flawless cameo to enable the hosts to overcome an Australian best of 209.
On his captaincy debut, Suryakumar hit nine fours and four sixes to help India win the match with two wickets remaining and a one-run lead in the five-match series.
India needed seven runs off the last over. But after Sean Abbott produced a no-ball, the side lost three straight wickets, including two runouts on balls four and five. Rinku, the chase maestro, then sealed the triumph.
The run off the no-ball helped India surpass their previous highest chase of 208 against the West Indies in 2019. Rinku, a left-hand batter who struck 22 off 14 balls, slammed a six that was not counted.
“I’m really pleased with how the guys showed their abilities on the field. Suryakumar remarked of the victory, “We were under pressure, but the way everyone got back into the game was wonderful.

Speaking on taking on the role of captain for India, Suryakumar stated: “It’s a proud moment; whenever you play cricket, you think of representing India; it will take some time to sink in, but I am very proud.”
After the hosts lost their opening pair on 22, Suryakumar’s 112-run partnership with Ishan Kishan. Who hammered a 39-ball 58, proved crucial.
The game took place barely four days following Australia’s sixth consecutive ODI World Cup victory against India, the hosts. Josh Inglis responded with his maiden international century of 110 off 50 balls, leading Australia to 208–3.
Before Inglis, who hit 110 off 50 balls, and Steve Smith, Australia Whoever reached 52 before being run out combined to blast 130 runs off 67 balls in a brilliant combination. Australia lost an early wicket.
As Inglis leapt and punched the air, marking his fifty off 29 balls and his hundred off 47 balls, the Australian locker room erupted in cheers.
