Jay Shah Makes A Major T20 World Cup Declaration That Teases Rahul Dravid's Future As India’s Coach

As per the confirmation provided by BCCI secretary Jay Shah, Rahul Dravid will stay on as the head coach of India until the 2024 T20 World Cup in June of this year.

After last year’s ODI World Cup final, Rahul Dravid’s contract expired. He was asked to stay on as part of the support staff for the December–January tour to South Africa without having his contract finalized.

However, Jay Shah claimed that before deciding to keep Rahul Dravid on until the ICC championship. Which would take place in the USA and the West Indies. He had a preliminary conversation with the former captain here. Rahul Bhai had to depart right away for the South African tour following the 2023 World Cup. We never had the chance to meet, but that finally happened tonight. Jay Shah stated this on the verge of the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium’s renaming ceremony on Wednesday evening.

Why are you concerned about a contract for someone with Rahul Dravid’s level of experience? Shah declared that Rahul would continue to be the coach for the T20 World Cup.

Before the major event, Shah did mention that there would be a couple more rounds of talks. I’ll talk to him whenever I get a chance because there are currently two series running simultaneously. After a T20I series against Afghanistan (at home), they were in South Africa and are currently in England. We had no opportunity to talk in between,” he continued.

According to Shah, the BCCI’s workload management regulations will apply to the IPL teams that employ centrally contracted players.

This is the mandate of the BCCI. He stated that the BCCI is the highest authority and that the franchises must abide by its decisions since we are superior to them.
